Piedmont Photo Club

About Us

This Is Our Story

The Piedmont Photography Club is an active, growing organization with approximately 60 members currently participating. Feel free to browse our website or come to our next meeting to see what we are all about.   We meet once a month to learn more about photography, listen to presentations, critique each other’s images, and discover new ways to make photographs.  We usually meet on the second Tuesday of the month at New Philadelphia Moravian Church on Country Club Road in Winston-Salem. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm, but most members show up at 6:45 to chat casually before the meeting and to enter their photos in contests.

ACTIVITIES

The Piedmont Photography Club hosts a wide variety of activities.

Every other Month is usually a contest meeting. Our members may enter digital images, prints or a combination of both. On some occasions the club will solicit the services of an outside judge to provide critiques and make awards, at other times honorable mentions are determined by the consesus of the general membership.

At some meetings guest speakers provide hands-on, how-to demonstrations or other interesting and educational presentations. In the past we’ve had published professionals give slide shows on subjects such as action, landscape and nature photography. Some of our very talented members have also conducted workshops on macro photography, digital photography, studio lighting, Photoshop techniques and the business of photography.

PPC also hosts regular day trips and weekend getaways. Members have enjoyed trips to Brevard, Cades Cove, Doughton State Park, Hanging Rock State Park, Reynolda Gardens, Bethabara Park, the Asheboro Zoo, the Butterfly House, and the Emily H. Allen Wildflower Preserve among others.

Club members regularly show and sell their works through club-sponsored exhibits and are entitled to exhibit a number of their photographs on this website at the member galleries pages found at the top of this page.  Some members have their own personal websites and links to them can be found on the Links page.

Other activities include picnics, a holiday dinner and our annual banquet and awards presentation.

But wait, there’s more! Check out the calendar in the menu at the top for a complete listing of this year’s planned events.
